Final Cut Pro won’t Import .AVI files captured with CamStudio- Solution

I recorded a lot of video using CamStudio version 2. It will play back in Windows Media player perfectly and VLC. The problem is when I try to open it up in Quicktime 7.6.4 (the most recent version), all I have is a black screen. It will play for the duration of the video clip but there is no video. I just need to be able to open it in QuickTime so that I can save it as a .mov and edit in Final Cut Pro. Is there a solution to this problem? How can I import CamStudio .AVI files to Final Cut Pro for editing smoothly?

I have scoured the internet, tried everything I could find. Some guys recommend to install Perian, but when I tried it, NO luck. QuickTime still won’t support my AVI files from CamStudio. I even don’t know the reason behind. It can’t help me to import the CamStudio AVI to FCP.

Another workaround is to install Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac and encode AVI to ProRes .mov for Final Cut Pro directly. I’ve downloaded and installed the app. Yes, it worked.

Overall, the program is a professional yet all-in-one video conversion tool. With it, you can easily rewrap all AVI files to ProRes 422, ProRes 422 HQ or 4444 for using in Final Cut Pro X/7/6. It also provides simple video editing functions for you. Besides, the Mac video converter can convert HD videos from HD camcorders or DVs (like JVC, Panasonic, Sony and Cannon) for editing in Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express, iMovie, Avid MC, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc. Just download it and follow the tutorial below to transcode CamStudio captured AVI to Apple ProRes for FCP X/7. If you are in the similar trouble, just follow the instructions I shared below to get the work done.
