GoPro Hero3 Black edition is the second camera I got and the first one for Sport. I love it so far but having a hard time uploading it to YouTube. I recorded some videos but it won’t upload on YouTube. Every time I try it gets stuck at “processing” and then later gives me error video failed to process. When I go to Video manager to check the error it says “Failed (unable to convert video file)”. I am considering isn’t GoPro’s default format accepted by YouTube?
Got more details of the GoPro recorded videos and I got know the GoPro recordings are in H.264 MP4 format in 1080p @ 60fps. Searching from Google and got some recommended solutions. Below is the test of these ways.
Solution 1: Try the GoPro CineForm studio
I have tried to use the Raw file it produces in MP4 then an edited one with the software from GoPro. No Luck.
Solution 2: Change the name of GoPro files
I tried changing the name of the GoPro file before uploading it from my computer. This time try uploading from Chrome, but still failed.
Solution 3: Try the app Brorsoft Video Converter (or the Mac version)
With this GoPro to YouTube video converter, resolve two basic issues: Convert GoPro Hero 3 MP4 video to regular .AVI file compatible for YouTube; divide GoPro Hero 3 files into shorter 15 min sections( YouTube has a 15 min limit in usual.) And then upload the formatted videos to YouTune form computer. Yes, it worked.
Reviews of this GoPro video converter from Brorsoft:
Overall, the best GoPro Video Converter just meets my needs, which works as a GoPro video editor as well. With it, I can fast convert GoPro MP4 videos to YouTube compatible format like AVI, FLV with a proper resolution like 720p. What’s more, with the built-in video editor, it’s freely for us to trim the videos into multiple segments with short duration.
Now I share the step-by-step solution converting/uploading GoPro Hero 3 MP4 to YouTube with those who are facing the same thing.
1. Import GoPro Hero 3 MP4 files
Copy the GoPro files to your hard drive. Drag & drop video files MP4 to the program after launching it. Or click the Add video button to locate the files you want to add.
2. Select output format
Click Format bar to select an output format. To share your GoPro movies on YouTube, .avi, .3gp, .flv format from Common Video are all the proper formats. You can also press the Settings button to adjust the video size, bitrate, frame rate, audio sample rate, etc to optimize the quality.
3. Edit/Split your movie
Click Edit button and you can trim, crop or adjust the video with the built-in video editor to get the very part and effect of the movie you want.
Tip: If the video clips you’ve trimmed are still longer than 15 minutes, you can choose to split the long GoPro video into smaller parts so as to share on YouTube without limit. Click the Split icon in the main interface, and you can cut your files according to time length and file size.
4. Start the conversion
Click “Convert” button to start encoding Gopro HD MP4 video to AVI for uploading to YouTube. When the conversion task is finished, click “Open” button to get the exported files and then stream the converted GoPro MP4 files into YouTube for sharing with your friends, families, and fans. P.S. During the uploading, make sure a fast bandwidth, or it will take a long time. Enjoy.
